VALUES & PHILOSOPHY

birth values

Above all else, I believe that birth works. We wouldn’t have gotten this far if it didn’t. The human body is beautifully designed to give birth, and I have deep trust in that.

This is more than the birth of a baby. New roles, new relationships, and new families are also being born. These transitions both deserve and demand support.

Birth is not an isolated event. Every moment of your life before dictates how it will unfold. And it shapes every moment after.

If you want to own your birth with integrity, you must first claim full responsibility. This is a revolutionary act these days. When you claim responsibility, you give yourself enormous freedom.

philosophy of care

It is not my job (or wish) to change your birth plans. It is my job to make sure that you feel supported during your birth experience and that you feel like you are the one in the driver’s seat. This is your body, your baby, and your birth - no one else’s.

That being said, I value honesty. If your birth vision doesn’t seem aligned with the provider and birth place you’ve chosen, I will gently say so. If you desire, I will provide you with evidence-based research and options so you can make a confident, informed decision. I will also encourage you to consult your intuition. If something doesn’t sit well with you, we will work through those feelings together.

Through our time together, I hope to foster your confidence - and your partner’s - so that you can think critically about your choices throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. And when you reflect on your birth experience in the weeks and years to come, I hope you smile fondly.
